Care:
Care; Monarda is easy to grow and adapts to most conditions. Feed once a year with a slow release fertilizer.
Disease: Powdery mildew is a common fungal problem with monarda.
Propagation: When young plants or new spring growth reaches 1 foot tall, cut the plant back to 6 inches tall. Alternately, pinch back regularly. This encourages side growth and helps keep the plant at a manageable size. Thinning the stems also helps reduce powdery mildew infections by increasing air circulation around the plant.
