 Chives are an herb that thrive in full sun.  They are drought tolerant once established
Propagation:
Can be divided in the spring right after new leaves emerge. Even if you don't need new plants, it is recommended to divide clumps every few years to improve the producitveness and health of the plants.  They will grow from seed.  Deadhead the flowers to prevent them from spreading by seed.
Diseases:
They are not affected by serious pests and diseases but can be susceptible to various fungal diseases - usually if the soil it too wet or overfertilized.  You may find root rot, downy mildew, powdery mildew and some insects like aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites on your plants
